| The VCHA was formed in 1979 as a non-profit
California corporation. The original directors were Chris Brown, Art Grunig,
Rose Eichenberg Maureen Detoy, Joe Gilardoni, and Craig Manning. The primary
purpose of the club was, and still is, to encourage the development of public
interest in the cutting horse breed through promotion, presentation, and
sponsorship of cutting horse contests, teaching clinics, and other events
involving the use and exhibition of cutting horses in an effort to attract new
participants to the sport of cutting and the breeding of fine cutting
horses. |
To expand these objectives, the VCHA has
developed cutting horse events for its members including the
Mini Series Shows in which points are accumulated
toward year-end awards as well as playdays where members can practice showing
their horses and socialize with fellow members. For the benefit of members and
non-members, the VCHA also sponsors educational clinics by trainers and
professionals. |
Until 1993, the original cutting shows were held
at the private ranches of Chester Dennis or Jimmy Rogers. Subsequently, cutting
events were held at the Gary Deniz Ranch, the Sonoma County Fairgrounds, and
the Cresta Ranch. |
